Monday Morning Mention

Happy Monday! I'm digging myself out from under a pile of ungraded papers. In the meantime, you can enjoy these other fabulous folks:

Here's an interesting graph from Visual Economics about where the average U.S. consumer's money goes.

The Clark Chronicles talks about her secret to keeping laundry under control.

Monroe on a Budget talks about school supplies. I agree with what she says about not going on default, but keep in mind for the Christmas season that things like tissues and paper towels make great teacher gifts. Most teachers would prefer that to another #1 Teacher" mug. Many of my friends teach and it's stunning how much of their own money they spend to provide things that the school can't and the parents won't.

If you're just going to college or are thinking of starting a new career, here's a list from Christian PF about careers of the future. Medical engineering is amazing- my husband got to see a lot of research when he was in grad school, and he said then that he almost wished he had done that instead! I am continually amazed at what we can do.

Personal Fiance Analysis reminds us that the little things really do add up.

Have an excellent week!

Thanks for the link!

As far as teacher gifts go, I normally suggest gift cards to office supply or craft stores. (And for Sunday School teachers, a gift card to a religious goods store).

But stacks of classroom supplies you bought during the sales is worth considering.

One of my teacher friends / fellow bloggers reported he picked up 96 folders during one of the 5-cent sales this week. Reason: he knows there will be a use for them during the school year.
