Frugal Anniversery Dates!

Did you know that my wedding anniversary was on June 7? I've now been married four years, and I can hardly believe it. Time sure is flying! So what does a frugal couple do on this happy day? There are way more frugal ways to celebrate than the ways we have chosen, but part of being frugal is so that you have money to spend on special days. :-)

Here's a four year countdown of our anniversery celebrations:

Year 1- nothing, since my husband had moved to LA for the summer a few days prior. He was send to build a fancy space thing at a fancy space engineering company as part of his graduate study in engineering. We had only a few days notice, so we did not even get to do anything before! Very sad.

Year 2- To make up for yucky year one, we went and got an hour and a half couple's massage at one of my favorite spas ever, then went out to dinner.

Year 3- We decided that last year rocked so much, we did massages again, and lunch.

Year 4- We decided to tone it down a bit, because this year has been expensive. My husband used a vacation day, and it was so nice to have him home in the middle of the week! That alone was a celebration. We went to lunch at our favorite hibachi grill and then out to a movie. Lunch was delicious and much cheaper and less crowded than dinner, and the movie tickets were free- one of those weird work perks my husband gets sometimes. It was a nice, relaxing day.

Happy Anniversary! I'm glad y'all were able to have a nice day together. Our anniversary this year (9th for us) will be spent at youth camp. Not exactly a romantic setting! LOL.

We've rarely done much of anything for our anniversary beyond going out to eat somewhere. We decided in the beginning not to bother with individual presents and such. (And with his birthday only 8 days later, it's gift overkill.) If we do a gift at all, we choose something together for the two of us. Our first year, it was a porch swing. Another year it was a DVD we both liked. We're pretty low-key. :-)

Well, Happy Anniversary! The spa doesn't exactly sound frugal, but it does sound divine! Great idea! :)
