We're still in a holding pattern, but there is some good news on the horizon.
The union and Boeing have come to an agreement, so hopefully there should not be actual layoffs. Hurray! However, because so much work is backed up at my husband's workplace, he still may be put on three days weeks with reduced pay. The storm is weaker, but it is still there.
This has been an incredibly powerful experience for us. While it has been incredibly stressful, it also helped us see some of our many blessings much more clearly. It also showed us some of the small holes in our safety net. We felt extremely vulnerable. While we know that layoffs are almost expected at most companies at some point these days, it was scary to experience the very real possibility of losing our primary income firsthand. It helped us challenge our assumptions of what we would do. I'm glad that these holes were revealed before we actually needed the net.

I've been mostly a lurker. I love "checking" in on you from time to time. I'm also very glad that the "storm is weaker" for you even if it's not cleared. My son-in-law's title company laid off a lot of people and the remaining employees had to take a 10% cut in pay. It's tough but we're just glad he still has his job, which is their primary income as well. In times like these, we just need to hang on to each other.
It's awesome you guys are pulling together during times of trouble!
Sometimes it does take these times for us to see how blessed we really are ...
For me and my husband Craig - it was the death of my mom when she was 58, the divorce of his parents after 50 years of marriage, and Craig's bout of drug addiction and subsequent rehab.
Life can be hard - but it is always a gift!!!

DarcyLee, thanks for delurking to say hello. I'm glad you enjoy the blog. :) It is tough, and we still don't know if his pay is safe, or if he'll be on full weeks in the coming months, but we're just glad he'll be keeping his job for now.

I'm glad that the future is looking more positive. And I totally understand. Steven's company laid off 17% of the company last week. His job survived, but we have no guarantee that it won't be him in the future. We're praying and saving!
