New Season: Now Renter Free!

Thanks TurkeyChik!

We're about to have a major change in our budget. This is something that we had known would happen someday, and now that day is here.

Our renter has entered a new season in his life and is moving to his own home in March. We've decided not to replace him, which means that we are taking a drop in income.

He paid us $400 a month, plus 1/3 of our utilities. His rent always went towards our mortgage, and that added income put us years ahead. Thanks roommate! :)
We are thankful that he was here for three years- that really helped us in our goals. At the same time, we're looking forward to having the place to ourselves. We've been married nearly 7 years, and have almost always had roommates to save money. We're ready to move on to a new season of our lives. We've made some calculations and we think we can still make our debt free goal of 2012 without having this one source of extra income.
His bedroom will become our guest room, and his office will become my office. I can't wait to find frugal ways to decorate!

This is a big change - I hope you love it!

Looking forward to hearing how it works out for you, meaning how close your perception of the impact will match up with the actual impact to your finances and how your household runs.
