Super Savings Saturday Part II: $38.21 at Dillons!

When I posted my first Super Savings, I was miffed at myself because I had set down my huge stack of mega deal coupons and did not find them in time for my trip. I found them today, so I headed out to Dillon's again to stock up on the deals. Here's what $38.21 bought. The yogurt was thanks to all my printed coupons! I printed out every yogurt coupon I saw- I knew it would pay off! :)

My freezer is filling up again! I need to get cooking! :)

Super Savings Saturday: $32.98 at Dillons

(Click picture for a larger image)

I stopped in just for a few free/near free coupon items, but ended up with several more things! The manager markdowns were generous today.

We got three big bags of individual servings of Pirate's Booty and some individual servings of Bunny Grahams, which will make for easier lunch packing!

The preformed hamburger patties are tres fancy- seasoned with cheese and bacon in them. I took them out of the package, wrapped each one, and put them all in a freezer bag for a luxurious dinner in the future.

The pork chops are sitting in a chipotle raspberry marinade and will be in my crockpot for an easy Monday supper.

The organic markdown bananas are for an experiment- I got a food dehydrator for $3 at a yard sale yesterday, and can't wait to try it. I hope it works out as well as we hope, as we eat a lot of dried fruit in this house.

All of the above items cost me $32.98 after markdowns, sales, and coupons. Woo hoo!

Super Savings Saturday: $45.61 at Dillons!

Not a huge haul, but we're extremely thankful for the laundry detergent and my favorite deodorant! The cheese will come in handy for the taco night we're having!

I saved $41.91 between coupons and sales. Weeeeeeee!

Last Grocery Trip of the Month

Here's the results of my last grocery trip of January. My Kroger was having some decent sales and the Mega Deals event this week, which certainly helped! The fish will be used in the fish tacos we're having tonight, as will the taco shells.

We're especially thankful for the tissues- we were down to our last box and all three of us are still feeling the effects from the super cold we had recently.

If we had paid retail price for these groceries, would have spent $110.94. With coupons and the Mega Deal event, I paid 46.85!

Total for this trip: $46.85
Total this month: $207.17

We did go over this month's budget by $7.17. We try to stay under $200 a month. I'm not worried, as we sometimes only spend $150 a month. As long as we average $200 a month for the year, we're doing okay.

Go see how everyone else did!

Super Savings Saturday

Behold- 37.58 worth of groceries, thanks to sales, coupons, and manager markdowns.

I shopped at two stores this week- Dillons (aka Kroger) and a local health food store.

I bought bulk organic steel cut oats and bulk organic flax seeds at the health store. I find that the health food store's general prices are expensive, but the bulk prices are often incredible!

Total this trip: $37.58
Total this Month: $160.31

Super Savings Saturday

Our $200 a month grocery budget includes our laundry detergent, dog food, soap, and other supplies. I make sure to stock up when the deals are good! This week the Kroger store had sales, I had coupons, and there was an extra promotion from P&G where you got $5 off for each $25 you spent on their product. I spent $48.53, but I ended up saving $47.64 by using these methods. WOO HOO!
The wine was not on sale and cost $9.99. This will go in a chicken dish and in my onion soup later this week.

Total this trip: $58.52
Total this month: $122.73

Super Savings Saturday

We're saving this week by skipping the grocery store and eating from our freezer. Last week I got some good markdown deals and had to rearrange the freezer to stuff it all in. Time to start eating from that stash!

We're also going to be having company soon, and have finally decided to break down and buy a guest bed. We've been having our poor guests sleep on a questionable air mattress. Until we bought the house, we moved so often and lived in very tiny spaces, so having an extra bed was out of the question. Now we have a whole house, but we rent out our unused space. We have a house four bedroom home, we're still living in a two bedroom situation.

Since we are not moving anytime in the foreseeable future, we decided to find a solution to our guest bed quandary. Our first though was to buy a high quality futon for our tiny upstairs office.
However, we were looking at futon prices and realized we could get a decent mattress for that price. So we measured and pictured how we could rearrange. This website helped with the visualization. We concluded that we could fit a mattress in our current office, so that's what we're going to do. We think our guests will appreciate being able to sleep on something that does not slowly deflate overnight. :)
