I don't typically go for quiz things like this on my blog, but I thought that this one raised an interesting question. If you could not leave your home for whatever reason, how long could you survive? According to this horribly unscientific quiz, we could go 112 days.
I think it's good to have at least a vague idea of what you have on hand. I try to keep extra food, shampoo, soap, etc on hand in case of things like job loss or unexpected expenses. We could not go to the grocery store for quite awhile if needed, thanks to our pantry/freezer stockpile. We'd be getting mighty tired of pantry meals, but it's nice to know that it is there. We also have several gallons of water on hand, but we would run out of that in a few days if something truly catastrophic happened.
We're hardly survivalists, but being somewhat prepared can't hurt.

I refuse to eat my cats or clothes, and would share my food with my furkids, so I'd be out of luck after 35 days. If I don't share my food with them, then I get 108 days. If I eat them, then I get 113 days. I'd die of loneliness (and guilt) if I ate them, so 35 days it is.
Maybe I should go grocery shopping?
It says that the 2 of us could survive 292 days! Whoa. Wait a minute, I don't have that much food, promise. :P And I live in an apartment, that doesn't spell out a lot of room. But I do have whole wheat and beans and those weigh quite a bit. I'd probably get sooooooo sick of wheat if that happened. :P
105 days! Thats way to low for our family of 3. I guess it would be more like 110 days since sonny boy is only 2 and doesn't eat as much as DH and I. Still, I feel like I need to stock pile even more. Ugh!
Only 79 days for my family of 3 (I'm not counting our little one due in May since she could survive on breast milk longer than we could survive on the food we have available). Very interesting, thanks for posting!
Interesting. Definitely unscientific, but interesting. It says we could survive 94 days. But I'm not eating my pets, clothing, or furniture, so I'm sure it would actually be fewer days. LOL.
This little quiz did remind me that I need to go buy cat food!
I would only make it 9 days (even with my delicious cat)!!! I think I might be on day 9 right now.
Wow. 354 days here. And that's with NOT selecting to eat my pets (or my leather shoes)!! ;o)
